Android Version for Fritzing - any updates on this issue?

Hi,

after sitting tagether with some buddies, fiddling around with a new Lumix camera and some tablets we were thinking about how cool it would having Fritzing on Android 4.x.. for quick'n'dirty protyping while on a party, a blues session or every other kind of loose come-together where a laptop is 'in the way'.

How are the plan to port it and what is nececcary to port it successfully?

Hi Christian,

Fritzing is built on top of a GUI Framework called Qt. Qt 5.1 claims to run on Android, and given how well Qt generally works cross-platform, this is good news for a port. However, Fritzing presently is based on Qt 4.8, and there are some possibly serious incompatibilities between 4.8 and 5.1 that would have to be resolved. An Android port would almost certainly happen eventually, since in general Fritzing wants to keep up to date with Qt as the latter evolves. But at the moment, the switchover to Qt 5.1 is not a high priority.
